The Teen Task Force created The Hook-Up to help you find healthcare resources in New York City. We tried to think of all the healthcare services that you would want - then, we called over fifty organizations to ask them about their services. We tried to think of every question you would want to ask your healthcare provider - then we took the subway to the far ends of the boroughs to ask those questions personally.
The organizations in The Hook-Up are diverse. Some serve majority API communities. Others serve majority Black or Hispanic communities. Some exclusively serve youths. Others are more family-oriented. Nonetheless, all these organizations offer comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, and provide those services at little or no cost to you. Our hope is that you can find an organization that best fit your needs.
There are many more organizations in New York City that provide quality services to API youths. The organizations listed here are the ones who we were able to contact in one summer, who responded to our phone calls and letters, who were friendly and patient while answering our questions, and who told us about their commitment to serve API youths.
The information in The Hook-Up is detailed and may easily change. Please be aware that under "Who are their regular clients?" in the organization profiles, the selected demographic groups are not the only youths that the health center serves. The selected groups are only the organization's best guess at the diversity of their client population. We tried to give you the most accurate and up-to-date information, but you're the one who needs to call the health center to make an appointment.
